The Alliance of Kalamazoo Artists focuses on sharing artistic knowledge, ideas and business tips in order to enhance the promotion of art in the community.

Kalamazoo Downtown Music Jam invites the community to come jam out with Kalamazoo’s local musicians this April, May, June, September and October. This free event has been bringing music into our hearts since 2014, and is bigger and more exciting than ever! Downtown Music Jam is bringing the Pop-Up Movement to our doorstep, allowing new, emerging, and returning artists and musicians to make music and memories in unusual locations. These events are popping up out of nowhere! These independent artists will have the opportunity to freely play live music, gain community recognition, and expose some of Kalamazoo, Michigan’s greatest talent!

Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear is a 6,000-square-foot traveling exhibition developed by the California Science Center which provides an experiential and holistic view of fear science, examining the physiological, neurobiological, and sociological aspects of fear. Engaging activities in Goose Bumps! allow visitors to experience fear in a safe and enjoyable environment, rate their response, understand the science behind the emotion, and reflect upon its personal meaning. Goose Bumps! provides an immersive experience within several conceptual areas, each with a distinctive look and feel, to reinforce its educational messages.

New to the 2016 line up is “The Donald Gilmore Classic,” a special show featuring Pre-War Vehicles, 1896-1942, just like the cars Donald Gilmore was known for collecting. This new show will be part of a year-long celebration commemorating the Gilmore Car Museum’s 50th Anniversary. Special awards will be given for Oldest Car, Furthest Driven, and Best Dressed (best period costume worn by a vehicle’s owner) will be given, plus two very special awards – the Genevieve Gilmore Preservation Award and the Donald & Genevieve Gilmore Award (Best of Show) – will be presented.
